개요

Wat Prayoon, or Wat Prayurawongsawas Waraviharn, is a temple located near the western side of the riverbank of Chao Phraya River. The temple was built by King Rama III in the early 19th century. On the temple grounds, you can see a large mound with numerous shrines and spirit houses in various sizes and shapes.

Another very noticeable feature of the temple is a large white Chedi built in the Ayutthaya style at the back of the temple grounds, which has been remarkably restored that it was awarded by UNESCO in 2013.

Near the temple are the Memorial Bridge (Saphan Phut) and an old Portuguese community which used to be inhabited by Portuguese merchants and government officials during the early Rattanakosin era. There runs a riverside walkway along the Chao Phraya River from the Memorial Bridge near Wat Prayoon where you can take a stroll enjoying a great view.

You can easily get to Wat Prayoon by taking the Chao Phraya River Express Boat service. Get off at the Memorial Bridge pier and cross the bridge. Walk straight for a few minutes and you will find the temple on your right. for the remarkable restoration of its
