Must Visit Places in North Jeju

Jeju-si, the northern part of Jeju Island, is where main sightseeing attractions are, such as Mt. Hallasan, the highest holy mountain in South Korea, Dragon Head Rock, and Iho Taewoo Beach, a paradise for leisure sports. Jeju Jeolmul Recreational Forest 제주절물자연휴양림

This is a great place for forest bathing, and it is believed to enhance cardiovascular function and to prevent asthma and tuberculosis. At Jeolmul Natural Recreation Forest, you can also taste mineral water that is thought to be effective in treating stomach disorders.

Yongduam (Dragon Head Rock) 용두암

Yongduam, or Dragon Head Rock, is named as it resembles a dragons' head. Sit on a rock by the ocean and watch the waves surge over Dragon Head Rock, which looks as if the dragon is about to ascend to heaven.

Iho Teolbo Bae Naksi (Boat Fishing) 이호털보 배낚시

Visitors can rent boats from this place to go fishing or fish off the seawall. If you pay additional charge, they also offer sashimi with the fish you have caught. Enjoy the gorgeous nightscape of Iho Taewoo Beach, as well as the nighttime fishing!

Nilmori Dongdong 닐모리 동동

This place offers a special "bingsu (a bowl of shaved ice) called "Halllasan Bingsu" named after Mt. Halla. Just like its name, it is served with a bowl of ice with a hot red bean sauce like a lava inside. Try "Cotton Candy Affogato" as well!

Jeju City Folk Five-Day Market 제주시 민속 오일장

This is the biggest five-day market in Jeju and has approximately 10,000 visitors on weekdays and more than 20,000 visitors on weekends. Food, clothing, daily necessities and a whole lot more can be found here!

Iho Tewoo Beach 이호테우해변

You can enjoy windsurfing, jet skiing or playing beach volleyball at Iho Taewoo Beach. You can also have fun catching fish! Two lighthouses shaped like red and white horses are additional attractions of this beach.

Mysterious Road (도깨비 도로)

This is known as Mysterious Road, or Dokkaebi Road, because of an optical illusion created by the surrounding terrain that makes the downward-sloping road appear to rise uphill. Stop the car on this road and leave the gear out, and it will appear to roll uphill!

Guksu Geori (Noodle Street) 국수거리

This street is called a Noodle Street because it is filled with noodle shops. Here, you can taste one of Jeju’s traditional dishes, the "Gogi Guksu", or pork with Japanese-style noodles. Compared to Japanese style noodles, the broth tastes lighter, which captivates the palate of the visitors!

Halla Arboretum 한라수목원

The scenery is especially glorious in April when the park is filled with the fragrance of cherry blossoms but the arboretum is worth visiting in all seasons. Simply stroll with your love between the tress for a pleasant break!
