The length of Youngdo Bridge is 214.8m and width is 25.3m. The construction began during the Japanese occupation on April 20, 1932, and was completed on November 23, 1934. Yeongdodaegyo Bridge is the first and only drawbridge in South Korea. The original name was' Busan Bridge ', but in February 1982 it was renamed as' Yeongdodaegyo bridge’.
Currently, this bridge has been performing the functions of an industrial road and a traffic route that connects Yeongdo Island and Busan city. Containing the melancholy of 6•25 war refugees, Yeongdodaegyo is the historical bridge that is a great merit in the development of the Yeongdo. The bridge is considered as a symbolic architecture of modern history in Korea; it was designated as the 56th Busan monument on November 25, 2006.
