The facts

Located south of Pattaya in Chonburi, Wat Khao Chi Chan is a solitary limestone hill with the image of a Buddha that is 109 meters tall and 70 meters wide.

The image was designed with computer software and drawn onto the hill using a laser in 1996. This was to commemorate His Majesty the King of Thailand's golden jubilee upon the recommendation of the then Supreme Patriarch. He felt that it would otherwise be a waste of a perfectly good mountain.

Because the laser could only be seen clearly at night, this was when it was drawn. In the day time, the drawing would be tweaked and adjusted.

There is also a large field in front of the mountain which has a lake with water lilies and a stone garden. However, tourists are not allowed to enter this area and can only look at them from the outside. Entrance to this attraction is free.
