- Rail pass users must be holding a non-Japanese passport (passport issued by a foreign government).
- Rail pass users must be entering in Japan as a "Temporary Visitor". "Temporary Visitor" is a status of residence defined under Japanese immigration law.
- Upon entry into Japan, please obtain proof of "temporary visitor" status with a stamp or seal on your passport. If using an automated gate at immigration, please inform the airport staff and request a certificate with the necessary stamp or seal on your passport.
- The pass can only be used by the purchaser.
- When using the pass, you must always carry your passport.
- The pass cannot be used for JR Kyushu buses, B&S Miyazaki buses, the Cruise Train Seven Stars in Kyushu, or the ARU RESSHA (Sweet Train).
- The pass cannot be used for the Sanyo Shinkansen (between Hakata and Kokura).
- Use of Green Cars is subject to an additional fee. The pass does not grant access to private rooms or compartments in Green Cars.
- The pass is only valid within the JR Kyushu service area. Some lines in Kyushu are operated by other companies and are not covered.
- Travel beyond the designated coverage area requires an additional fare.
- Refunds will not be issued due to unavailability of seating.
- The JR Kyushu Rail Pass can be used at automatic ticket gates. Please remember to retrieve it after passing through.
- The pass does not cover Shinkansen (bullet train) rides between Hakata and Kokura, as this section is operated by JR West.
[Seat Reservations]
Customers with a JR Kyushu Rail Pass exchange voucher can reserve seats in advance using the JR KYUSHU RAIL PASS Online Booking service before exchanging the voucher for the pass.
Advance Seat Reservation Fees (per seat):
- D&S Trains (Sightseeing Trains): 1,500 Yen
- Regular Limited Express Trains: 1,000 Yen
- Half price for children.
- For the limited express “36 Plus 3,” fees vary depending on the route.
- Reservations can be made from 10:00 a.m., one month before the boarding date.
- Payment for seat reservations must be made by credit card at the time of booking via the JR Kyushu website.
