En bref

This palace is unique in that its front gate and throne hall face east while in all the other palaces face south.

Changgyeonggung Palace was originally built as 'Suganggung' by King Sejong for his retiring father, King Taejong in 1483. Later, King Seongjong renovated and enlarged the palace and renamed it to Changgyeonggung Palace.

During the Japanese colonial period, it became a park with a zoo and a botanical garden. The botanic garden built above a large pond called Chungdangji still remain today.

During special holidays like Chuseok, the palace hosts traditional games and activities for the visitors to experience and enjoy.

This palace is, like the others, beautiful and an interesting place to visit! I'd recommend doing a guided tour, as they're really interesting and a good way to make sure you see everything worthwhile!
