[About winter festivals]
1) Hongcheon River Trout Festival
Date: Jan 10~26, 2020
Hongcheon is well known for ginseng and the trout which are fed the 6-year grown ginseng. Hongcheon River Trout Festival has been selected as one of Gangwan-do's excellent festivals in 2015! Various programs (ice fishing, catching trouts with bare-hands) are waiting for you.
*Due to weather conditions ice fishing is NOT available until Jan 20.

2) Daegwallyeong Snow Festival (Pyeongchang)
Date: Jan 10~19, 2020
The festival venue, Daegwallyeong, is referred to as the Alps of Korea. Its 700m high valley receives a great amount of snowfall every winter. The festival first began in 1993 and was selected as one of the top 12 cultural festivals in Korea. Visitors can enjoy the Snow Land photo zone, Ice Sculpture Park, Snowman Park and more.

3) Inje Icefish Festival
Date: Jan 18~27, 2020
Soyangho Lake in Inje is the largest man-made lake in Korea, Every winter, the lake freezes up to 30 cm (11 inches) and a school of icefish (bingeo) swim to Soyangho Lake to lay their eggs. Visitors can experience ice fishing and other ice activities. The area was listed on “50 Beautiful Places to Visit in Korea” by CNN in 2012.
